In non-peak visa application times, non-Canadian citizens may process for their visas at the US consulate offices throughout Canada. The non-Canadian nationals are also known as "Third Country Nationals" (TCNs).

However, for the summer of 2014, all U.S. consular posts in Canada will not process visa applications for TCNs. This temporary suspension is for the months of June, July and August. The reasons for this temporary suspension is because of staffing issues at the consulates and because of the expected high demand for visas from Canadian citizens.

TCN applicants who already have appointments will still have their applications processed. However, temporarily the consulates will not schedule any new appointments for TCNs.
